Well, you know, buddies, I’ve been feeling pretty sorry for myself of late.
And I still do.
I still think it’s ridiculously unfair that I am a thoroughly nice girl with a good sense of humour, a good job, and lovely hair, and yet I have nobody.
But I have also come to realise that moaning and worrying really doesn’t get you anywhere. So I’m wondering what else in my life (aside from being a lonely cat) I would like to change.
I would like to be thinner.
There it is.
Blame the fashion magazines. Blame the MTV. Blame what you will. But I really think there is nothing wrong with aspiring to be leaner version of oneself.
Will it make me happier?
Yes, it definitely will. And it will open up a huge new range of wardrobe choices.
But here’s the thing, I am just not prepared to get crazy about this. I cannot and will not count every mouthful and every single itty bitty calorie. I’ve been down that road before and it only leads to meltdowns over scrapings of peanutbutter and an overreliance on ice lollies. That’s a sad way to live.
I want to get some kind of exercise schedule going on. Which is ironic, because I just cancelled my gym membership. But it’s springtime now and I live opposite a huge park.
However, I’ve never been very good at getting into an exercise regime. And, by “never very good” I mean “pretty awful”. I tend to go nuts for a few weeks and then get in a mood with myself and decide not to do any of the exercises that I’ve worked so hard to build up to.
So, this time I’m throwing it open to you, my blogger buddies. Any suggestions for workouts, routines, circuits etc. that can be achieved at the park with nothing more than a skipping rope and weight resistance band thingie are most welcome.
I have five weeks until I go to Florida. I would like to be able to run on the beach and not risk being mistaken for a manatee who has swum ashore.
(Although, how cute are manatees?)
Find a couch to 5K program and jog in the park. Also consider doing sprints with various things like push ups, crunches, and squats in between sprints. Are there any exercises or sports you actually enjoy?
Couch to 5k. That sounds about right. I’ll see what I can find, thanks. I used to do boxing. I like skipping and running. Yoga and Pilates too.
Could do a yoga routine in the park or just at home too. You can find free routines online I know but don’t know specific places. You could sprint, jump rope, sprint, push ups, sprint, squats, sprint , crunches and sprint. See how many of each thing you can do in 1 minute and push yourself to improve that number. Perhaps jog 2-3 days a week, circuits 1 time a week and yoga 2 times a week.
God, I LOVE manatees firstly hehe … ❤
Secondly, if you seriously just avoid sugar and carbs (not COMPLETELY but as much as you can) and do the jogging as someone suggested, every day for even just 15 minutes, you will definitely lose weight fast.
Not to say that what works for someone will work for everyone, but that always was the way I got lean super fast – though please be careful if you do eliminate sugar/carbs because I think I did it way too drastically and too suddenly and now I'm losing my hair!
(Apparently doing the drastic elimination stuff can "trigger" hair loss that won't even reverse if you start eating the stuff again that you eliminated! Sucks!)
But yeah, in moderation and as much of the jogging as you can, it definitely seems the fastest way to get very, very lean.
All this talk about it has made me want to go hop on the treadmill for a run myself actually haha, so off I go. x Good luck!
Ahhh, thank you. Great advice. Sugar is my greatest enemy and my greatest friend all in one. I’m totally addicted. Which I know is the worst thing ever. You’re right though. maybe I need to go hardcore for a few weeks and see how I feel. Hope you enjoyed your run! x
Fitnessblender.com – all their workouts are free! And you can do them right from home. I legit lost 10 pounds because of these two life savers. I highly suggest checking them out!
Amazing – I’m going to check it out right now.
They’re definitely challenging but come in all different levels. I love working out now thanks to them!
I just found a whole bunch of workouts I want to try. Thanks, Lara! You could be responsible for me not looking too much like a manatee. x
I’m addicted to fitnessblender.com they’re always putting out new videos and they have a huge selection of things to do (though I’m not really a fan of their yoga). I haven’t been to the gym in months but this is what I do to keep fit and I think it’s working 🙂 give it a shot!
I’m also the kind of person who doesn’t want to watch every mouthful. I believe in a good diet but also the fact that food is amazing and delicious and should be enjoyed! So a little exercise, a balanced meal and an occasional treat, that works for me.
