I’m writing this from somewhere over the Atlantic. Which is kind of fitting, really, since that’s where my relationship fell apart. While he was in New York deciding that he had never been in love with me, I was in London falling even more deeply in love with him. And so, somewhere over the Atlantic, it broke.
I hardly slept last night (despite having some great new bed sheets with dogs on them). There’s something about visiting the US that makes me miss him even more.
It’s silly, because at home in London we live about a mile and a half apart. Yes, I think about him constantly. But why should it hit me even harder when I’m travelling 4,000 odd miles to a different country?
I’m thinking about last January when he had to go to New York for three days on business. I remember how happy we both were when he got home. How much he said he had missed me.
I’m thinking of the morning he left for the US back in May. How we said goodbye and then I climbed back into his bed for an hour and smelled his smell on his pillow. How secure I felt.
I’m thinking about his flight home, the day of the pizza of doom. Did he already know when he got on the plane that he was going to break up with me? Did he decide when he landed in London? Or was it something that happened somewhere over the Atlantic?
Safe travels. My heart aches for you. I hope can find space in the US to heal as well, from what he did to you.
this is beautifully written! so sorry this happened though ):
Safe travels! If you need any ideas for places to visit, let me know 🙂 !!! you’ve got this in the bag! Consider it a business vacation.
Thank you, guys. Boston is so pretty. I want to live here. Currently trying to work through my presentation for tomorrow but very distracted by the fact online dating has just rematched me with him. Why does the universe hate me?
It’s all work til tomorrow afternoon, then playtime. So, I’m with a colleague. We are staying round about Copley squ and the Prudential Center. In fact, I have a fabulous view of The Cheesecake Factory. Where is good for drinks/dinner around here?
Ahh glad you made it safe!!! Luckily, everything in Boston is only a T-Ride away, so you don’t have to limit yourself to Copley Square. It all depends on what you’re looking for! Boston is definitely has some great seafood places-I don’t eat seafood but people rave about them. Island Creek is an oyster bar that I’ve heard fabulous things about. If you’re looking for incredible Italian food, look no further than the North End. The pastries and pastas/pizza will blow your mind-I’d go anywhere there. The Faneuil Hall area has many great places to drink, but if you’re looking for a Boston feel without being too fancy there’s some awesome sports bars by the TD Garden. That’s usually where I go with my friends on the weekend. It’s more relaxed and the crowds are friendly. You’re here during the perfect season since pretty much all of our sports teams are playing throughout the week!
((Oh and OBVIOUSLY the cheesecake factory is AMAZING, but I’m sure you have one of those somewhere near home)) I think PF Changs is somewhere near there too. Ugh the options are endless!
